Today Najma is talking to founder of My Garden Academy, Mary Kidson, about the link between gardening and mental health. The lockdown has led to a resurgence in gardening, with many people growing their own plants and vegetables for the first time. The two talk about how the act of planting growing and harvesting your own food; tending to plants; or sitting in the tranquillity of your own space can create hope, reduce stress and ease depression. Mary explains how those lacking outdoor space can garden in their homes; describes the advantages of homegrown produce and gives some tips on where the novice gardener can start.
Mary Kidson runs My Garden Academy and offers courses on how to design your own garden.
